Team building is made up of different processes for any given group to assess itself and learn its current strengths and weaknesses. The main goal is to improve camaraderie, performance, team work and drive to shorten the gap between the present state and the desired state. Group development is important since it determines the pattern and causes of changes within groups. Some aspects that need to be considered and observed include output productivity, activity frequency, team cohesiveness, open communication and presence of conflict.
Members of organizations develop a pattern over time which makes team building useful in maintaining open relationship and communication. Stagnancy or backpedalling can occur in companies depending on the manner of direction, supervision and execution so all hindrances need to be identified and addressed immediately for productivity and performance to ensue. Conventional methods of team building usually include games and classroom activities that provide tools and information about improving relationships in the workplace. Treasure Hunt Adventures provides effective program for team building since it includes activities that promote the right attitudes, skills and level of participation among members. The treasure hunt is based o the sport of orienteering and has team members should navigate the course to find different points and accomplish tasks that continue to unlock new clues.
A standard course is made of a starting point, a series of encircled control sites which are connected by lines and numbered according to the particular order that they should be visited and a final destination. A feature is defined by control descriptions or clues and surrounded by the encircled control sites. Clues will be revealed as team members finish a variety of tasks and missions that will eventually expose the key to the treasure chest.
The approach is a great alternative wherein teams will be able to develop leadership, trust, communication skills, problem solving skills and decision making skills. The course has been used in executive and corporate team building as well as for schools and other groups with significantly positive results.
